I was just wondering if anyone has done it and what it cost per radio.Radios you bought new in 2004 needing a costly upgrade to meet 2013 narrowband standards? One of our radio techs has said he priced it out to be in the ballpark of 1200 a radio on the other hand another tech has said i dont know where thats coming from it shouldnt be that high. Were only looking to do a bare bones flash that just allows us to stay on the system were aware there are a lot of new frills avail such as GPS and Encryption which we don't need. The system we operate on is part of another town and we basically have 2 options either scrap what we have and find our own way of talking to each other, or we can do the necessary software/hardware updates to stay on the current system. Looking for prices we currently have original XTS5000 radios from 2004.

The SRIB runs it's own firmware and gets a firmware update every time it's run if needed. Select the firmware CVN file for your radio, and then ensure the bootstrap code and SRIB software is selected. You will go to depot and flash radio this will bypass the iButton check. Mototools is a program that can read and write the code plug in binary format directly to the radio. This will allow you to recover it if needed.

It's suggested you backup your radio with mototools in binary format and save the CPS codeplug too. Open the CPS and test that you can read and write the radio codeplug, and the flashport config.
